About our provider
Kavitha F. Johnson
M.Ed., RDN, CDCES
I understand the anxiety you might feel from being diagnosed with diabetes or other health issues. I've had the privilege of helping countless people like your self, find strategies that were successful in changing their health for the better, for more than 20 years of my career.
My philosophy is that food is meant to feed, nourish and heal your body as well as to be enjoyed. DIETs do not work for the long term. Trying diet after diet and depriving yourself of foods you enjoy, is no way to live. I believe that all foods from all cultures can fit (unless you have certain food sensitivities) and moderation is key in improving and maintaining good health. Eating the right foods can help to heal and reverse disease and the wrong foods can create or worsen disease. Hippocrates’ quote “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food” is so true. Health is a lifestyle and habits are hard to break but it can be done, one baby step at a time.
My role is to clarify conflicting health information and latest fad diets you may have encountered and facilitate the transition from poor or sub-optimal health to optimal health and well-being with evidence based nutrition plans. I work with you to make lifestyle changes which will help you reach your specific health goals that have long term sustained benefits, instead of short term fixes that do not last.
I help my clients by creating a plan based on individual needs, lifestyle, cultural and ethnic influences, likes and dislikes, etc., in the healing and treatment process of each health condition. It is never a one size fits all. You will receive a personalized plan that includes a meal plan as well as strategies based on your lifestyle, to achieve the health goals you wish to set for yourself, such as getting your cholesterol, blood sugars, blood pressure etc., in control and possibly be able to come off certain medications, lose weight, etc.
My passion includes preventive health because I am a firm believer of the saying “prevention is better than cure”.
I am accepting new clients, self or physician referred. I work as part of the client’s health care team that includes local physicians including Endocrinologists, OB-GYN, Primary Care, Internal Medicine etc.
A little about me… I was born and raised in Chennai, India but the US has been my home, for the past 28 years. I speak English and Tamil. On my days off, I love spending time with my family, participating in church activities, catching a good documentary or just chilling at home with family and friends.
